Clay as a building material; a journey from mud to clay; lecture and workshop
Julio will share insights in why the building sector is responsible for 37% of CO2 emissions, and the development we need in a new building sector. Energy efficiency is not enough, and we need new steps to control CO2 emissions and use of chemical materials.
Natural materials and clay hold new possibilities, and we can look at this from a permaculture perspective.
Julio will share his experiences through his diploma design titled ‘Clay as building material’ in the category ‘research’ where he worked in depth with this wonderful natural building material, and founded ‘the clay laboratory’.
Clay is a fantastic material to work with, and Julio will also show some of the properties of clay through a playful interaction with clay in the workshop.
