Teaching students about Ecology and Seed Saving through Permaculture Design

Teaching students from RomerikeInternational School about Permaculture, seed saving and ecology lead to a cooperation on designing two greenhouses, one at the school and one on Rolstad Gård.

After years of working in greenhouses and dreaming about how to build better ones, we have built a prototype. Students, teachers, parents and friends attended the ceremonial opening this spring to kick off the season. Using the Permaculture design process to both teach and involve children in the planning, building and then using of the new greenhouses has been an amazing emergent experience.

I will share the inspiration behind the design which is grounded in the work of the Deep Ecologist Deloris LaChapelle.
